AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Keeping kids entertained can be a challenge, especially with a rainy forecast like the one we have this weekend. And while a new toy from the store typically ends in fun and excitement, there are more resourceful modes of play that can be just as fun and exciting!So how do you promote engagement, sustainability and enjoyment without ever leaving the house? Meteorologist Kristen Currie spoke with educators at the Sylvan Learning Center to get some ideas on homemade, eco-friendly kid crafts using materials you probably already have at home.Below is a transcript of the interview. GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) - North Country communities are getting on top of lead pipes - and making sure homeowners don't have any. This week, municipalities in Warren County are asking their residents to take a close look at what's bringing the water in and out of their taps and tubs. According to a 2021 lead and copper rule revision by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, water system operators nationwide have to take inventory of the materials used in water pipelines within their areas of service. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The annual celebration of Greek culture is returning to Albany at the St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church from May 19 to 21. The three-day festival features performances by Greek dancers in traditional costumes, Greek music, tours of the church, and more! GRANVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Two Whitehall residents were arrested on Friday, with one allegedly possessing part of a firearm reported stolen from the Vermont State Police in 2014. ST. LOUIS - One woman accused in one of two Cherokee Street shootings over the weekend is now behind bars. Police arrested Amber Booker, 33, in the investigation into a shooting Saturday evening as a Cinco de Mayo festival was wrapping up for the day. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department has identified another person of interest in this case, though has not yet disclosed their identity. St. Louis man says American Airlines lost prosthetic leg, won’t reimburse him The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 2700 block of Cherokee Street. Police say a woman was shot in the leg and the man suffered a graze wound to his upper thigh. Both victims were hospitalized, but are now in stable condition. Investigators say the victims were standing near an intersection and observing a fight amongst some men when one suspect began waving a handgun around. A teen boy is in critical condition after he was shot and run over by a car at a Canoga Park gas station early Wednesday morning.The unidentified victim, who was initially thought to be a man but was later determined to be a boy about 17 years old, was with a friend when they pulled up to an Arco gas station at Vanowen Street and Independence Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Catherine Somers has always wanted Los Gatos to be seen as a tourist destination. But by the time the town council came around to her vision—approving $88,000 last week to fund the town’s Visitor and Information Center, social media and marketing—it was too late for her and the Chamber of Commerce she oversees as executive director. Somers is stepping down on June 30, and the rest of the Chamber’s three-person staff is set to leave this summer.“We were totally surprised,” Somers said of the allocation. “We weren’t even going to say anything this year because of the budget constraints.
