Methuen High School may not be playing in a Super Bowl next week. But there’s no question the Rangers are one of the state’s top programs, thanks in large part to a pair of brothers who have been a driving force behind the team’s recent football success. “We have a lot of other great players too, for sure, but they have set a standard,” said Methuen Head football Coach Tom Ryan, discussing brothers Shane and Drew Eason. Ryan continued, crediting the Eason brothers for their standard in the weight room and their standard in practice. “They’re excellent, hard working kids and it shows,” he said. “The results show for them.”The Easons made it look relatively easy over the past two seasons with Drew under center and Shane in the backfield. Speaking with 7NEWS, Shane said Drew is a great leader and a great role model who “does all the things for the team.” “[He] steps up in the biggest moments,” Shane said.Drew similarly praised his brother. “When there is s...FBI: No evidence of terrorism in border crash

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — The FBI has ended its investigation of a fiery car wreck that killed two people at a border checkpoint in Niagara Falls after finding no evidence that it was a terror attack, easing a period of high tensions as Americans headed into the Thanksgiving holiday. The FBI’s decision late Wednesday came several hours after the vehicle raced through an intersection, hit a median and was launched through the air before slamming into a line of booths and exploding at the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls. Local police are now handling the case as a traffic investigation.“A search of the scene revealed no explosive materials, and no terrorism nexus was identified,” the FBI’s Buffalo office said in a statement. “The matter has been turned over to the Niagara Falls Police Department as a traffic investigation.”The investigation has been taken over by the Niagara Falls Police Department’s Crash Management Unit, according to a news relea...Qatar: Gaza cease-fire to begin Friday morning

DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip — A four-day cease-fire in Gaza between Israel and Hamas is set to begin Friday morning, Qatar said after a daylong delay extended the agony for those hoping for some relief from the deal, which is to bring the release of dozens of hostages held by militants and Palestinians imprisoned by Israel. The diplomatic breakthrough promised some relief for the 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza who have endured weeks of Israeli bombardment, as well as families in Israel fearful for the fate of their loved ones taken captive during Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack that triggered the war.The cease-fire was originally set to begin Thursday morning, but it appeared to hit a snag the night before when Israel’s national security adviser, Tzachi Hanegbi, announced a one-day delay without providing a reason. On Thursday, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari announced the cease-fire will start at 7 a.m. local time Friday (5 a.m. GMT.)He said the two sides had excha...Sage Fire burning at 'critical rate of spread' in Jamul: Cal Fire

NEW YORK (AP) — A woman has alleged in a lawsuit that actor, singer and comedian Jamie Foxx sexually assaulted her at a rooftop bar in New York in 2015, an incident the actor says “never happened.” The lawsuit filed Wednesday in state Supreme Court in Manhattan by a woman known in the documents only as Jane Doe alleges that Foxx rubbed her breasts and groped her under her pants against her will. The suit says she and a friend were seated at a table next to Foxx’s at Catch NYC in 2015. The woman’s asked Foxx for a photo, and the two women took several pictures with him, the suit says. It says that afterward, he began complimenting her “super model body” and told her she looked like the actor Gabrielle Union. He then grabbed her by the arm and took her to a secluded area, where he put both hands under her crop top and felt her breasts, the suits says. She tried to pull away from Foxx as he reached into her pants with his hands and touched her genitals, the suit also allege...Half of Quebec roads are in poor shape, auditor general finds

ST. LOUIS (AP) — A former St. Louis alderman indicted in a fraud case was charged with lying to police about getting carjacked last year, authorities said. Brandon Bosley was charged Wednesday with one misdemeanor count of making a false report to police when he said a woman tried to carjack him last year, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. Months ago, he was indicted by federal officials in a fraud and bribery investigation that put three other former St. Louis aldermen in prison last December.Charging documents say there was no evidence of an attempted carjacking and that several parts of Bosley’s story did not line up with what investigators found, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.
