US working to assist Americans seeking to leave Gaza, West Bank (The Hill) - The Biden Administration shared that U.S. officials are currently working to assist Americans who are seeking to leave the Gaza Strip and the West Bank amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and the militant group Hamas. In a news release on Sunday, the administration said that National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and Principal Deputy National Security Advisor Jon Finer were briefed on the efforts to help residents who want to leave the war-torn areas. Sullivan and Finer were also provided updates on the government’s coordination with the United Nations (UN), Israel, Egypt, Jordan, and other countries in the region. Green Island Police investigating shots fired GREEN ISLAND, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Green Island Police Department is investigating a shots fired incident that occured on October 15. No injuries have been reported, according to police. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! On Sunday at 10:15 a.m., police responded to High Street following reports of bullets striking two separate residences. Upon arrival, officers were able to confirm that one bullet had struck the front door of a house, and that a second bullet had struck the window of another house. Further investigation by police revealed that a shooting had occurred on the ramp of I-787 north from the Collar City bridge after multiple shell casings were recovered at the scene. 3.5 magnitude earthquake strikes near Ojai A 3.5 magnitude earthquake struck near Ojai Sunday afternoon. The temblor was recorded at 12:52 p.m. and was centered about 10 miles northeast of Ojai and about 15 miles north-northwest of Santa Paula, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake struck at a depth of about 6 miles, according to the USGS event page. Although the temblor was almost 10 miles from Ojai some residents did report feeling it, according to a USGS interactive map. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
