These rideshare companies and their drivers need to act and be treated as to what they are, commercial carriers of passengers, whether a Passenger Stage Corporation or Transportation Network Companies, per the CPUC. All drivers for a rideshare company need to be background checked, to be licensed through the DMV, their vehicles registered as commercial vehicles and their drivers must have commercial insurance in the same manner that transit operators have to comply. If transit wants to get back to pre-pandemic ridership, you must get all forms of possible transit abiding by the same licensing and insurance requirements.Conrad SchapiraMilpitasCEQA not at faul...Man accused of killing boy, 6, hides during first court appearance

Addison nervously peeked around the corner periodically.Addison is charged with murdering his nephew, 6-year-old Jordan Cam Walker, and his grandmother, 71-year-old Delphina Turner, inside Turner's apartment on August 3. CHICAGO (AP) — The Milwaukee Brewers placed right-hander Adrian Houser on the 15-day injured list on Monday with right elbow stiffness.Houser started Sunday’s 10-6 victory over San Diego, but he was lifted after two innings. He was charged with four runs and four hits.“I know he came in feeling pretty good today. He was optimistic about how he felt,” manager Craig Counsell said before the opener of a three-game series at the Chicago Cubs. “Before I kind of express real optimism, I’d like to kind of see how the next couple days go. But we’re hoping this could be a short stint and that he’ll be back pitching and maybe just miss a couple starts.”The 30-year-old Houser is 5-4 with a 4.58 ERA in 19 appearances for the NL Central leaders, including 17 starts. Counsell said there are no plans to send Houser for an MRI right now.The Brewers recalled right-hander J.B. Bukauskas from Triple-A Nashville. NEW YORK (AP) — Max Scherzer returned to Citi Field on Monday as a member of the Texas Rangers — still mystified as to how the New York Mets’ season, which began with championship hopes for a team with the largest payroll in major league history, unspooled to the point that he was part of a trade-deadline selloff.“That’s a billion-dollar question, because if you could answer that question, I think everybody would want to tell you how you actually win here at the major league level,” Scherzer said in the Rangers’ dugout before the opener of a three-game series against the Mets. The three-time Cy Young Award winner, who made his fifth start for Texas on Saturday, will not pitch this week against the Mets, who entered Monday last in the NL East and nine games out of a playoff spot. New York hasn’t finished in last place since 2003 and hasn’t been in last place this late in a season since 2005.“I don’t know,” Scherzer said. “It was just a combination of everything. It just seemed like wh...Twins option starting pitcher Bailey Ober down to Triple-A with his workload in mind

Ober’s 122 2/3 innings are a career high for him at any professional level. The Twins had the luxury of making the move because of the recent addition of Dallas Keuchel to the rotation. The 35-year-old right-hander has a 3.50 ERA in four appearances, including five innings in relief of Ober on Sunday. The AL Central-leading Twins called up left-hander Kody Funderburk from St. Paul for more bullpen depth before their three-game series began against second-place Cleveland. The Twins went 13 innings to beat Texas on Sunday. The 26-year-old Funderburk was a 15th-round draft pick by the Twins in 2018 who has yet to appear in the major leagues...Denver weather: Dry end to August before rain chances return
