FRISCO, Texas (AP) — Tyron Smith finally spent some time late this offseason at left tackle, the position he played in all eight of his Pro Bowl seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. The subsequent shift of Tyler Smith to left guard put the 2022 first-round draft pick back where he was a year ago before he moved to the left side after Tyron Smith tore a hamstring and missed the first three months of the season. If the Cowboys are healthy on the offensive line and want to play their best five, it’s likely to mean putting off the long-term plan of Tyler Smith protecting Dak Prescott’s blind side, particularly when Terence Steele has recovered from a knee injury and is ready to play right tackle again.“Luckily, just having those reps last year, it’s nothing new,” Tyler Smith said. “I think it’s good for staying sharp and having the best five out there. That’s really the point of emphasis right now is making sure we have those best five.”Two spots are settled as the Cowboys pursue...Police investigate robbery near CU Boulder campus

(CNN) — Rangers at Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park are seeking information on two people who are accused of harassing a bison calf last weekend, the National Park Service says. The two people “were seen approaching and touching a bison calf at the southern end of Elk Ranch Flats in Grand Teton National Park” on Sunday, according to a news release from the park service.Park authorities emphasized the importance of viewing wildlife safely, responsibly and ethically to ensure the safety of both visitors and wildlife.“Often these interactions result in euthanizing the animal. Approaching wildlife can drastically affect their well-being and survival,” officials said. Fortunately, in this instance, the bison calf was successfully reunited with its herd. The incident is under investigation. Park officials released an image of the two unidentified individuals seen standing near the bison calf and are asking anyone with information to contact the park tip line at 307-739-3367.“Treat all wi...New Haven police commission terminates 2 officers charged in the transport incident that left Randy Cox paralyzed

(CNN) — Two of the five New Haven, Connecticut, police officers involved in the June 2022 arrest of Randy Cox, who was left paralyzed from the chest down in a police van, have been fired, officials said.Four members of the New Haven Board of Police Commissioners on Wednesday voted in favor of dismissing officers Jocelyn Lavandier and Luis Rivera over the transportation incident, Mayor Justin Elicker said.Police Chief Karl Jacobson recommended the terminations of all five officers in March. The commissioners found that Lavandier and Rivera violated the “General Orders of the New Haven Police Department,” according to Elicker.Lavandier’s lawyer called the move “an absolute rush to judgment” in a statement to CNN.“At a minimum, the City should have waited for the judicial process to play out before terminating Officer Lavandier,” attorney Daniel Ford said.CNN has reached out to Rivera for comment. In November 2022, both officers, along with officers Ronald Pressley, Oscar Diaz and Sgt. Donald Trump will plead not guilty to charges connected to his handling of classified national security records, the former president told Fox News on Friday.Trump told Fox News that he’s “totally innocent” and that the indictment is “election interference at the highest level.”The former president, who is seeking reelection to the White House in next year’s election, announced Thursday that he had been indicted on charges connected to his handling of classified national security records. He wrote on social media that he had been summoned to federal court on Tuesday in Miami, where prosecutors are expected to charge Trump with seven criminal counts.Trump’s lawyer, in a separate interview with Fox News, said Trump’s second indictment is nothing more than a “political weapon to sideline a candidate.”“None of this is a surprise to the actual people at Archives, but they have turned it into a political weapon to sideline a candidate,” Trump lawyer Jim Trusty said on “Fox and Friend...Ukraine counteroffensive ramps up, but meets stiff Russian resistance

Ukrainian mechanized brigades are redoubling their assaults around Bakhmut in the Donetsk region and neighboring Zaporizhzhia, but appear to be facing forceful Russian resistance with both sides claiming to have inflicted heavy losses in the past five days.As their counteroffensive ramps up, the Ukrainians say they’ve made advances of up to 1,600 meters around Bakhmut, the salt-mining town that Russian forces only recently overran after months of vicious close-combat warfare. And Russian military bloggers with close ties to the country’s defense ministry have acknowledged the Ukrainians have had some success there. Yevgeny Prigozhin, the boss of the Wagner paramilitary group, bemoaned earlier this week a fallback of Russian troops in Bakhmut, dubbing it a “disgrace.”But in Zaporizhzhia, the picture appears much more mixed. “Ukrainian forces conducted a limited, but still significant attack in the western Zaporizhzhia region on the night of June 7 to 8,” the Institute for the Study o...Alert level lowered for Hawaii’s erupting Kilauea volcano as thousands watch the dazzling display

(CNN) — US officials lowered the warning level for Hawaii’s erupting Kīlauea volcano on Thursday, saying the burst of lava spewing from within one of its craters has decreased. The volcano began erupting before sunrise on Wednesday with a burst of lava spewing from within Halemaʻumaʻu crater at Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park – home to two of the world’s most active volcanoes, Kīlauea and Mauna Loa. Officials highlighted a number of safe locations for the thousands who were expected to flock to the area to take in the magnificent view.Kilauea volcano shot up fountain bursts about 200 feet high during the early phase of the eruption Wednesday, with the largest lava fountain consistently coming in at about 50 feet high, according to the US Geological Survey. With lava flowing on the surface of the crater floor, the alert level for Kilauea was raised to red for “warning” while authorities evaluated the hazards from the eruption, the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said W...Latest news
