Under each photo were demeaning captions such as how 52% of Californians disapprove of Biden’s performance, Newsom’s sliding in the polls, and how Harris is struggling with “dismal polling.”Who cares about polling right now? There is a solid year to get that information. Webeck: Where I voted SF Giants’ Logan Webb on my Cy Young ballot In this year’s National League Cy Young race, beauty was in the eye of the beholder.A voter’s ballot would reveal their values.Should the award reward run-prevention above all else? What’s to be said for shouldering a heavier load, especially in this day and age? And where does pure dominance in the areas most in a pitcher’s control — that don’t necessarily translate to a low ERA — factor in?Ideally, there would be a pitcher who encapsulates all of these qualities, and that’s how you get unanimous winners. But, as Mike Petriello incisively outlined for MLB.com in September, there were no Justin Verlanders or Sandy Alcantaras in this race. There were the workhorses: Logan Webb, Zac Gallen and Zack Wheeler; the strikeout artist, Spencer Strider; and the ERA leader, Blake Snell. A tier below, Kodai Senga and Justin Steele were deservedly in the conversation with lower ERAs than all but Snell but ultimately fell short by throwing fewer innings than the...

Biden and Xi agree to restore some military-to-military communications between the U.S. and China WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed Wednesday to restore some military-to-military communications between their armed forces as the two leaders met for hours on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in San Francisco. Both sides pledged cooperation that would bring the U.S and China closer to resuming regular talks under what’s known as the Military Maritime Consultative Agreement, which until 2020 had been used to improve safety in the air and on the sea. The official spoke to reporters on condition of anonymity to discuss a private meeting. This also opens the door for agreements at less-senior levels, including that the commander of U.S. Pacific forces in Hawaii can engage with counterpart theater commander...

Vikings thriving on Dobbs-Hockenson connection founded in summer throwing sessions EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — T.J. Hockenson has found a summer home in Tennessee, where a small group of NFL players spearheaded by his close friend tight end George Kittle train together between seasons. The sessions take place at Kittle’s 75-acre property outside of Nashville, where there’s a workout facility in a remodeled barn and a football field in the San Francisco 49ers star’s yard. The group brings in their own physical therapists and speed and strength specialists, too.Sometimes, Joshua Dobbs joins them.“There’s not a ton of quarterbacks down there, so whenever we could throw with Josh we were all hyped and excited,” Hockenson said. “It was one of those days we weren’t going to miss, because he’s got a great ball and he’s a great quarterback and he’s a great dude.”Little did he know this casual connection made in recent summers would form the foundation for one of the NFL’s most productive passing duos. Over two games with the Minnesota Vikings, Dobbs has targeted Hocken...
