VIDEO: Drone footage shows scope of Cedar Park brush fire damage CEDAR PARK, Texas (KXAN) — Cedar Park released a drone video showing the damage from a 50-acre brush fire Tuesday near the high-trafficked area of Parmer Lane and East Whitestone Boulevard.The Parmer Lane Fire has burned an estimated 50 acres and is now 60% percent contained, the Texas A&M Forest Service said Wednesday. The Forest Service said crews made progress in building a containment line around the fire. Hutto ISD welcomes back students, campus construction projects continue HUTTO, Texas (KXAN) — The Hutto Independent School District welcomed back its first campus of students Wednesday at Veteran's Hill Elementary.Principal Edward Johnson said Wednesday marked the official start of school for the entire Veteran's Hill Elementary campus, but some students were already learning during the summer break.Johnson said the campus is piloting a new program that adds 25 days of additional schooling during the summer months for its students. This is the only campus in HISD to have such a program. The campus will also have six additional calendar days this academic school year, which is why it started school one day earlier than other campuses.Johnson said 220 families signed their students up for the "summer camp days" program. Austin man on trip to spread father's ashes dies at Utah national park MOAB, Utah (KTVX) -- A 66-year-old man from Austin found dead Aug. 1 in Arches National Park was there to spread his father's ashes, according to his family.James Bernard Hendricks, of Austin, is believed to have died of heat stroke during a hike along the Sand Dune Arch Trail, his sister, Ruth Hendricks Brough, told the San Antonio Express-News.“He was loved by countless people because he was an unusually kind, sweet person who made friends easily," she told the outlet. "Now all these people are grieving. It was a horrible shock."Rangers from the Grand County Sheriff's Office went looking for Hendricks after he was reported overdue to return from his hike and found his car in the parking lot. (NEWS10) - The Glens Falls Police Department is investigating the dumping of what is believed to be a substantial amount of driveway sealer in Crandall Park. A trail of sealer was found running along the ground near the community picnic pavilion, just south of the park's playground.
