St. Louis, MO - The St. Louis Board of Aldermen will address two bills Friday that have sparked controversy and intense debate. The first bill focuses on carrying guns within the city, while the second bill addresses interactions between the police and citizens. The regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen will take place at City Hall at 10:00 a.m. Both bills will be discussed and potentially finalized for a future vote.Board Bill 29, sponsored by Aldermanic Member Cara Spencer, aims to ban the open carrying of guns in the city without a concealed-carry permit. This bill was prompted by recent incidents where young individuals were openly carrying firearms during downtown events. Spencer argues that the bill would help remove guns from the streets and disarm minors, as the concealed carry permit requires individuals to be at least 19 years old. However, concerns have been raised that if the bill passes, it could lead to increased police stops and searches. Lawmaker to review law ‘i...Storms expected Friday afternoon and evening

WEBSTER GROVES, Mo. - C.J. Mugg's Bar and Grill in Webster Groves prepared its staff and long-time customers for a harsh reality: they would be shutting down on Thursday. The city has now announced that a new Italian-style restaurant will take its place. It was nearly a full house inside the pub-style grill by later in the evening. However, the employees are still in shock."It will be devastating for our regulars and for us because this is such a family unit of a place," said one of the girls who has worked at C.J. Muggs for nearly 10 years. It's the family bond that the employees have developed over time, but as the building sits steadily on the corner, it has now become anything but inside."It's unfortunate just watching the staff because nobody knew it was going to happen," said BJ Bupillo, an attorney who owns the firm just across the street. Federal charges in robbery, murder of St. Louis Kitchen owner C.J.'s is one of his go-to places. Bupillo recalled the moments when employee...Driver hits parked car in north St. Louis

Dear Amy: I work with wonderful people. There are a dozen of us on the team. We work well together and genuinely enjoy one another’s company and friendship. When someone has a baby, we throw a shower. For a milestone anniversary with the company, we celebrate that. When someone is ill, we provide support. When someone leaves the company, we bid a fond farewell.Birthdays often involve surprise treats. We get together for lunch. We go to movies. We laugh a lot. It’s all great, and I’ve always happily participated in and contributed to these things.Alas, I’ve never been on the receiving end of any of it. My milestone anniversary with the company passed without note, as did a milestone birthday. When I had major surgery . . . nothing.Today I received an invitation to contribute to a group housewarming gift for one of my colleagues. Normally, I would be all in. The thing is, I moved to a new house five months ago. All of my coworkers know this. And yet they didn’t band together for a gift....Bucharest declaration: NATO's Ukraine debate still haunted by 2008 summit

As NATO nations try to agree on Ukraine’s push for membership at a summit in Vilnius this week, an earlier gathering casts a long shadow. At a summit in Bucharest in April 2008, NATO declared that both Ukraine and Georgia would join the US-led defence alliance - but gave them no plan for how to get there. The declaration papered over cracks between the United States, which wanted to admit both countries, and France and Germany, which feared that would antagonise Russia. While it may have been an artful diplomatic compromise, some analysts see it as the worst of both worlds: It served notice to Moscow that two countries it once ruled as part of the Soviet Union would join NATO - but brought them no closer to the protection that comes with membership. Now, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is pressing NATO to make clear how and when Ukraine can join, after the war triggered by Russia’s invasion is over.Once again, there are divisions within NATO. And officials often cite the Bucharest declara...Pedestrian Seriously Hurt after Hit-and-Run on Q Street [Lompoc, CA]

I’m a teacher, and I have taught; if I were a preacher, wouldn’t I have praught?”The prof was today’s North in a penny game.“My partner had to oversee the play at four hearts,” he said.East took the king of spades and led the nine of diamonds: ten, jack, deuce.
