Local Denver businesses rely on Small Business Saturday DENVER (KDVR) -- Black Friday may be over, but the Saturday after Thanksgiving marks Small Business Saturday. It's a time to show small businesses support.People did not let the cold or snow stop them from supporting some of their favorite local businesses. Thousands expected for Toronto Santa Claus Parade, road closures in effect Hundreds of thousands of adults and children will descend upon the downtown core on Sunday for the 119th edition of the Original Santa Claus Parade.The first of 27 floats and almost 3,000 marchers will kick things off at 12:30 p.m. from Christie Pits Park. Pregnant mother of 2 speaking out after hit-and-run crash on Thanksgiving Day CHICAGO — A woman who was the victim of a hit-and-run with her two kids on Thanksgiving Day is speaking out as police continue to search for the driver who fled the scene. Kyle Holder, the mother involved in the crash, says she is grateful that she and her children's injuries were not more severe, but is pleading with the driver involved to turn themselves in. Just before 10 p.m. on Thursday, Holder and her two young children were on their way home from Thanksgiving dinner with family members when their SUV was hit by another vehicle near 86th and King Drive. "I couldn't see the car until we were already in the intersection and that's when we got hit," Holder said.  National Weather Service warns overnight snow could make for hazardous driving conditions The crash, which caused Holder's SUV to overturn, was caught on a Ring camera and the driver who hit her can be seen speeding away from the scene. "I thought we had died because I didn't hear my children screaming a...

Albany woman reported missing by family, aged 21 ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -Azalea Gardner, 21, was reported missing by her family Tuesday. Her mother, Tania Sharlow, says she lost direct contact with her daughter on November 22 around 5 p.m."She left her home without her phone. Woman found dead near San Bernardino County fire station Deputies are investigating after a woman was found dead near a San Bernardino County fire station.The woman was identified as Jaquetta McAllister, 28, a Riverside resident, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.On Nov. 24, deputies responded to the 12100 block of Kiowa Road after firefighters discovered the woman’s body inside a parked vehicle around 5 a.m.Her vehicle was parked near the fire station at the time.The SBSD's Specialized Investigations Division assumed the investigation. The woman was transported to the coroner’s office for further examination.Neither her cause of death nor the condition her body was found in were released.The incident remains under investigation. Until she entered a Fairfax Co. community college Samar Eltalib Bashir remembers one of her first bus rides in the United States. She had recently arrived in Northern Virginia from her native Sudan and needed to go from her apartment to the grocery store.But the 18-year-old spoke no English.When she climbed onto the bus, she tried to ask the driver if she was on the correct route. But Samar froze, struggling to recall the words she had practiced the night before. When she noticed two passengers mocking her inability to communicate, she quickly took a seat. It was the wrong route, and she got lost.This was not the American arrival that Samar anticipated. At 17, she was submitted by a relative for the Green Card Lottery. Formally known as the Diversity Immigrant Visa, the program was established to encourage immigration from underrepresented countries. Sudanese citizens have few pathways to immigrate to America.
