19th annual Orange County Marathon kicks off  The 19th annual Orange County Marathon kicked off Sunday, with tens of thousands of runners expected to turn out for this year's event. Adults, children and even dogs were out supporting their friends and family at the race, which starts at Fashion Island and ends at the Orange County Fairgrounds. Despite the wild weather that the area has endured recently, the sun came out just in time for the run. “We’ve had crazy weather this whole year, but we got blessed with perfect running weather today,” said race organizer Gary Kutcher.  For more information, visit the O.C. Former Oakland A’s pitcher, Vida Blue, dies at 73 OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) – Former Oakland Athletics pitcher and three-time World Series champion, Vida Blue, passed away on Saturday.  Blue made his Major League Baseball debut when joined the Oakland A’s organization in 1969. He was an American League MVP and helped the Oakland A's win three consecutive World Series championships from 1972 to 1974. Blue, who wore the number “35”, was also a six-time MLB All-Star.Major League Baseball released the following statement on Blue's passing:"We mourn the passing of Vida Blue, a Cy Young, MVP and three-time World Series winner. He was 73."The Oakland A’s released a statement Sunday morning that read in part:“Vida will always be a franchise legend and friend. We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends during this arduous time.”The Oakland A's Hall of Famer was 73-years-old.

7 killed by driver near Texas migrant shelter; police say it may have been intentional BROWNSVILLE, Texas (KVEO) - Seven people were killed Sunday morning after a driver ran over them in Brownsville, Texas. The collision does not appear to have been accidental, police said.The victims were standing at a bus stop in front of the Ozanam Center, a shelter for migrants and homeless people in the Texas border city, at 8:30 a.m. when they were hit. Lt. Martin Sandoval said seven victims died at the scene and another four to six people were taken to area hospitals.Sandoval said the driver was arrested and charged with reckless driving. Lowell man accused of threatening people with box cutter outside Tewksbury motel A Lowell man is facing criminal charges after police say he was threatening people outside a Tewksbury motel with a box cutter on Saturday night, officials said.Justin Maryland, 47, was arrested on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, threatening to commit a crime (murder), and disorderly conduct following his arrest, according to Police Chief Ryan Columbus.Officers responding to a report of a man threatening to kill people in the parking lot of a motel on Main Street around 8:30 p.m. After initially refusing to comply, Maryland was taken into custody without incident.No additional information was immediately released.
