Throughout the past several months, we’ve seen the cost of food soar with inflation and the rising prices are affecting residents and business owners alike.“I started my business more full-time in [January 2021] and compared to now, it (prices) is double — like everything,” Noel Cunningham, a Toronto-based chef and cookbook author, told CityNews. “The problem is that the customers they don’t, often times, understand because their expectation is the same or the same quality for the same price that we’re paying maybe two, three years ago, and it’s different. CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) — For more than three hours, the UNC-Chapel Hill campus was placed on a lockdown due to an active shooter situation. University of North Carolina Chancellor Kevin M. CHICAGO — A 20-year-old man was fatally shot during an attempted robbery on the city's Far South Side.Family members have identified the 20-year-old victim as Daemond Russell.The shooting happened around 12:15 a.m. Monday on the 1600 block of East 95th Street in the South Deering neighborhood. Police said the 20-year-old was approached by a male offender who was attempting to rob him.According to a witness, Russell tried to get away in his vehicle and was shot in the head by the offender. WASHINGTON (WDCW) -- The killing of a 16-year-old girl from Maryland took place after she and her accused murderer fought over sweet and sour dipping sauce, a detective with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said.Det. Brendan Jasper testified at the arraignment of the 16-year-old girl whom police arrested for the alleged murder of Naima Liggon. Jasper said the teenagers met three other people in Oxon Hill, Maryland, then drove to D.C. to go to a party on Sunday.
